About Miranda

As Miranda is 70% blind we at Sound Women wrote this for her: Miranda is the found of Sound Women Bristol CIC and currently Station Manager at Ujima Radio has dedicated her adult life to addressing issues of social injustice and inequalities in many different areas. In particular addressing lack of gender & race inequalityies in media industries and has always been volunteering and supported so many people & organisations over 37 years but rarely gets her flowers. Miranda and Sound Women have won multiple awards, global, european & national for the production of Our Journey a pioneering series about the Bristol Bus Boycott that at the time was barely heard of. It features incredible series of interviews and archive content and brought attention to the Bristol Bus Boycott that until then wasn't heard of. The series got played in. network of over 30 radio stations across the UK including in London. Keir Starner heard it & tweeted saying "this is exactly the type of history that should be included in our school curriculums". She won Positive Role Model for Gender in Bristol Diversity Awards and been shortlisted 3 times in National Diversity Awards. Plus the content of all the series she has produced cover matters of social injustice. One series was even during Covid made by Elders for Elders. Miranda is 70% visually impaired so this project was really important to her.
