Nadia Taghi

Born in London, I grew up facing a multitude of barriers which led me in wanting to pursue a career in helping others. I moved to a small village in Suffolk at the age of 12, and felt at home being surrounded by the beautiful English country side. I completed my secondary school education and developed a real passion for photography which for many years became a creative outlet for me, to this day it is still one of my favorite hobbies. I applied to University and got accepted on to the Health and Social care foundation degree, which I passed with Merit. I then went on to study a BA in Youth Work, undergoing several placement years at different services in Coventry. During my final year placement I completed some of my hours at WATCH Charity & Hillz FM in Hillfields. Hillfields reminded me of 'home' in London, I felt welcomed by the immense diversity the area offered. On completion of my degree I secured a part time role at the charity, and over the years I have worked my way up to my current role as Chief Executive Officer. Over my time at the charity I have continued to practice youth work, I have taught myself how to run and deliver a successful community radio station, write funding bids, manage successful projects and to effectively manage a team of employees. I may have been 'sent to Coventry', but I have made it my home. Mixing the hustle and bustle of London and the community feel of Suffolk - I don't see myself leaving anytime soon!
