About Khandie

I’m Khandie Rees, a photographer based in Northampton, and I’m not here to sell you a dream. I learned early what makes content work and what’s just noise. Then came the military, which taught me clear communication, reliability and accountability, and I still work that way. Over 15 years later, I run an award-winning studio shooting portraits, weddings, branding, headshots, festivals and events. I’m also a BIPP Ambassador and Team UK Captain for the World Photographic Cup. What drives me I got fed up with an industry full of gatekeeping, guru culture and people being misled about what it takes to build a creative business. So I do the opposite. I share what works, what doesn’t and what things really cost, and I treat everyone fairly while I’m at it. I want creatives to stop waiting for permission and start getting seen, booked and paid. What I’m known for Saying the quiet part out loud. My two books, Take The F*cking Lens Cap Off and No One F*cking Cares About Your Photography, are as blunt as their titles, and they’ve been top sellers. The Loud Lens podcast. 130+ episodes of honest conversations about photography, business and marketing. Education that people use. My YouTube channel, the Shoot. Brand. Get Seen. workbook, the Start Shooting e-book, mentoring, and talks at The Photography & Video Show and Wales & West.

I tell you what things cost, what will work and what won’t, with no jargon and no hard sell. Military-grade reliability. Clear communication, turning up on time and doing what I said I’d do. Walking the talk. I teach what I actually do in my own business, and 15+ years behind the lens backs it up. A recognised name in the industry. BIPP Ambassador and Team UK Captain for the World Photographic Cup. In one line: Photography that gets you seen, and education that helps you do the same.

About Khandie's team

About My Team I run Khandie Photography with the support of a community I’m proud of. There’s me behind the lens, and the guests, mentees and listeners who make The Loud Lens what it is. My military background taught me that a team only works when everyone knows the plan and trusts each other. So I communicate clearly, give credit where it’s due and bring in the right people when a job needs them. Together we’ve produced 130+ podcast episodes, supported photographers and creatives through mentoring and workshops, and delivered work for clients across weddings, brands and events. I’m the name on the door, but it’s never just me.

The journey

I didn’t start out as an influencer. I started out with a camera, a lot of stubbornness and no idea what I was doing. Where it began My background is in the military and in social media analysis, two worlds that taught me completely different things. One gave me discipline, clear communication and the habit of showing up. The other showed me what makes people stop scrolling and what’s just noise. What it took Over 15 years, I’ve [add real hardships: the slow early years, the clients who didn’t pay, the doubts, the imposter syndrome, the gatekeepers]. I learned the hard way that talent isn’t enough. You also need a business, a brand and the nerve to be visible, and nobody tells you that when you start. So I worked it out in public, and I kept notes. The moments that shaped me Opening the studio. [Year, and what it meant.] It grew into an award-winning space. Writing the books. Two top-selling titles with deliberately blunt names, because I was sick of polite advice that went nowhere. Starting The Loud Lens. 130+ episodes later, it’s where I say what the industry won’t. Stepping onto bigger stages. Speaking at The Photography & Video Show and Wales & West, becoming a BIPP Ambassador, and captaining Team UK for the World Photographic Cup. [Add your own: a client, an award, a mentee’s success, or a low point you turned around.] Where I am now I’m still a working photographer, and I’m still learning. What’s changed is that I now help other creatives skip the years I wasted, so they can shoot, brand and get seen sooner.

Why your vote matters

I’ll be honest: I don’t do this for trophies. I do it because I’m sick of an industry that rewards the loudest guru instead of the most useful voice. If you vote for me, you’re voting for the other side of that. Here’s what your vote would mean It backs honesty over hype. Every episode, book and video I make is built on telling creatives what actually works and what really costs. Your vote says that matters. It’s proof that you don’t need to be a guru. An ex-military photographer from Northampton with a podcast, a stubborn streak and 15+ years of getting it wrong and then right, winning this award would show that plain talking has a place. It’s a thank-you to the people who made this happen. The listeners, the mentees, the clients and the team behind the scenes. [Add names or a specific example if you can.] This nomination is theirs as much as mine. It gives me a louder microphone. A win means more reach for the message I care about: shoot, brand, get seen, and don’t wait for permission. What I’ll do with it I’ll keep doing what got me nominated: showing up, sharing the real numbers and the real mistakes, and helping more creatives build businesses they’re proud of.
