In Joanna's own words

As the Food and Drink Journalist at The Courier, I am a passionate advocate for Dundee's growing food and drink scene. I've put chippers in the East Neuk to the test, and I've tucked into an octopus hot dog in St Andrews. 🏆 Judge for the World Buttery Championship in Aberdeen 2024 My role involves creating engaging copy for our digital audience and The Courier’s dedicated food and drink magazine. I also manage The Courier Food Instagram page, creating short-form videos of new venues and reviews. Between 2024-2025, I completed a successful secondment at The Courier's sister paper, The Press and Journal. I flourished in the role as solo food and drink journalist there, creating many well-read features, reviews and interviews and gaining a following in Aberdeen. In my career so far, I have also worked as Environment and Transport reporter at The Courier. I covered many exclusives, investigated who is breaking the single-use plastic ban, spoke to teens in the thick of the vaping epidemic and went out on the Angus glens to witness a grouse shoot on August 12th. I graduated from the University of St. Andrews with an English MA, and have always had a love for storytelling. I followed this with a Journalism Masters at RGU with focused my passion and developed the skillset I now use every day in the newsroom. Check out my author page on The Press and Journal or The Courier’s websites to read some of my latest work.
