Richard Duggan

I started my career in journalism at EssexLive in 2017 where I worked as a reporter and then became News Editor in 2018. During my time at EssexLive, I was shortlisted for Young Journalist of the Year and Digital Live News Reporter of the Year at the Regional Press Awards for my coverage of the murder of John Pordage. I went on to become Courts Editor for MyLondon in 2019 before becoming Acting Editor of SurreyLive, HampshireLive and associated newspapers between January 2020 and January 2021 covering maternity leave. I was the Editor of BedfordshireLive, CambridgeshireLive, EssexLive, HertsLive and PeterboroughLive between January 2020 and January 2021. I was appointed Regional Editor for Lancashire and Greater Manchester at Newsquest in January 2022 and currently oversaw six brands; The Bolton News, Lancashire Telegraph, The Oldham Times, Bury Times, The Messenger and Asian Image. In January 2023, I was promoted to Regional Editor North West and currently oversee 13 titles, including Warrington Guardian, St Helens Star and Wirral Globe. I have a Masters in Law from Northumbria University, a Bachelors in Law from Newcastle University, an NCTJ Diploma from the Press Association and senior journalism qualification (NQJ equivalent).
